The room was clean, and the bathroom was surprisingly spacious for one person. I stayed in room 120, and it had all the essentials. Only a short walk to the Colosseum and local eateries with good food. Perfect for my needs !

The guest room room included central heating, an individual safe, and multi-channel television, we were happy about that.

The hotel was fancy and clean inside, I enjoyed it. The breakfast was particularly nice for diabetics, and all the food was good. The location for Rome was decent, adjacent to fontana di Trevi, and most Italian restaurants. Had brunch in the Amodei - Banco & Bottega, located nearby.
The location was bad.

The hotel had a good location. It was close to the train station and easy to find.
Our hotel bathroom was not pleasant. When we arrived the toliet paper holder was emtpy, the toilet and sink were dirty, the toilet sprayed water out the top for several minutes after flushing, the pressure in the shower was not consistant. We thought it was also very overpriced for the quality of the room. Breakfast was also bad - dirty tablecloth, poor selection of breakfast options.

Breakfast options are quite simple, but you get a roll, juice, and jam, which are decent for the price you pay. The ambiance for breakfast, even if basic, gives a nice kickstart to your morning with the atmosphere of a local experience.
The rooms can be a gamble. Beds have been described as uncomfortable, almost like sleeping on concrete, and several rooms have had issues with broken amenities like lamps and shower holders. Cleanliness seemed to be a recurring issue, with reports of dust accumulation and poorly maintained common areas.

Simply no complains at all, very pleasant stay. Recently refurbished, excellent hotel with incredibly nice people and marvellous location within walking distance of many of Rome's famous landmarks. Budget room, exceptionally comfortable bed, and nice bathroom. Lots of goodies for breakfast. Location short walk to the railway station and bus to airport, and Termini the central station...

Overall, I am happy with the hotel and would like to say Thanks to the young hotel staff with a dog. He was always helpful and cheerful. Good things: - Location - Room service - Safe - Fridge - Good decor
Things that would benefit travellers in the future: - Reception staff with better spoken English. - TV (too small and remote control does not work) - Bathrooms too small for comfort - Slow lift with no access to stairs - Lower Internet rates

Location
We didn't like at all this hotel. The bed was miserable and uncomfortable . Everything was old. We thought that the fridge was a safe deposit box till we opened it because was up in the wall. You have to pay 15 Euros if you use the air condition, considering that Rome in July is tooooo hot and no air came from the window. You have to pay even for watching TV. The breakfast was poor. The toilette had spiders. It was a dirty hotel.

The location was perfect for exploring Rome, being just a short walk from major attractions. Our triple room was comfortable and equipped with air conditioning, great for the hot summer nights. Breakfast was decent, with a helpful lady ensuring we got what we needed.
The shower holder was broken in our room.

The Hotel Altavilla is an excellently located hotel near the Rome railway station and makes at ideal overnighter to recover from your long haul international flight before embarking on yr Italian tour. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the hotel quiet, clean and comfortable and good value for money. However, the maintenance of the hotel is poor which means complaints for the staff to deal with. I realise the hotel is only 2 star and quite old but if the standard of maintenance could be improved life for guests and staff would be much better ! Thanks for two stopovers and I hope you fixed that leak!!

The room turned out to be CHEAP and tidy with comfy twin beds, bathrooms, for example. Shower facilities and a hair dryer where very handy.
